Itinerary Highlights


Geneva is one of the most important international sites for the United Nations. We will:

  • Visit the UN Headquarters, (formerly the League of Nations), learn about current UN activities, including a behind-the-scenes view of the UN at work. Enjoy unique seminars with senior managers from: The World Health Organisation (WHO), The World Bank and the UN's Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights to learn about the challenges and achievements of directing global programmes.
Cern Pipes UNHCR
  • Visit CERN (the European Organisation for Nuclear Research), one of the world's most respected centres for scientific research, to see the Large Hadron Collider, and learn about cutting-edge research in identifying the particles and forces that make up our universe!
  • Meet senior managers at the Headquarters of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and learn how the UNHCR:
    • Safeguards the rights and well-being of refugees, worldwide
    • Ensures everyone can exercise the right to seek asylum in another state
    • Runs operations in Syria or Columbia

We can also tailor your itinerary to your specific interests, and arrange seminars at:- The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, World Meteorological Organisation (global climate change) and The South Centre (global food security, sustainable agriculture).

Leysin and Berneuse, Swiss Alps

From our base in the beautiful mountain village of Leysin, we will:

Swiss Alps
  • Conduct an environmental impact assessment of tourism, and learn about the local government's strategies for developing the economy in an environmentally sustainable way.
  • Take a cable car to the Berneuse (2045m) to enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the French and Swiss Alps: learn about mountain strata, nappes, bedding planes, and overfolds.
  • Enjoy alpine treks and mountain biking!

Chateau d'Oex, Les Diablerets and the Grand-Eau

  • Learn about human settlements and Alpine farming systems in Chateau d'Oex
  • Undertake fieldwork to learn about flash flood and floodplain management in Les Diablerets
  • Research the Grand-Eau river's fluvial processes and landforms

The Langgletscher Glacier

  • Hike through the stunning Lötschental Valley, over moraines, right to the snout of the Langgletscher Glacier - a UNESCO World Heritage site!
  • This glacier is approximately 6.6km long, and we carry out fieldwork here to learn first-hand about glacial processes and valley formation, succession, and the effects of climate change.
  • Following our trek, you can enjoy a relaxed swim and jacuzzi back at your hotel!

At the highest arched dam in Europe, we will:-

  • Learn about hydropower, global warming, and sustainable development - how the Swiss are developing new hydropower plants to reduce pressures on the environment, caused by climate change
  • Conduct research on a new hydropower project near the Corbassière Glacier to assess its economic benefit and impacts on the environment

Lake Geneva

Lake Geneva
  • Take the scenic journey, from Lake Geneva to Leysin, past vineyards, chateaux and alpine meadows!
  • Visit the 140-metre high Jet d'Eau, the world's tallest fountain, or enjoy a boat cruise on Lake Geneva - the perfect way to relax after an amazing trip!
