The ASDAN Universities Award

Like the students who complete the University of Oxford’s Summer School, all students who complete a Global Action expedition now receive the widely-recognised ASDAN Universities Award!

The ASDAN Universities Award is highlighted by UCAS for applicants to mention in the personal statement of their UCAS form. Students have found that the Universities Award has made a significant difference to their UCAS Application.

The ASDAN Universities Award comprises 6 modules: Work Related Activities, Career Planning, Global Awareness, Active Citizenship, Enrichment Activities, Extended Project.

Global Action provides advice by email to all students completing their UCAS application in how to mention your Universities Award on your UCAS Personal Statement. The Universities Award provides progression (credits) towards the ASDAN CoPE Level 3 Award. The CoPE Level 3 Award can earn you up to 70 UCAS points.

Enhancing your coursework, university entry and job applications!

Each Global Action programme has been designed to:

  • Enhance participants’ understanding of key A Level topics. Each of our destinations’ ‘Subjects, Coursework and University Entry’ page clarifies how you will enhance your learning through fieldwork and participatory seminars.
  • Enhance participants’ university application or job interviews. Students can use their ASDAN Universities Award and fieldwork with international experts, for their UCAS Personal Statement or job interviews, helping them to stand out from the crowd.
  • Strengthen skills in leadership, teamwork, and self-reliance through adventurous and challenging activities, all of which are highly valued by potential employers.

International Baccalaureate (IB) & Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)

You can include International Baccalaureate Extended Essay topics, and elements of CAS, as part of your expedition. Although the A Level Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is supervised by school, Global Action can provide a list of suggested research questions for the EPQ.

We wish you every success in your UCAS applications!
